Doctors are using the antiviral medications Tamiflu (oseltamivir) and Relenza (zanamivir) to treat swine flu. These drugs can help prevent the flu and can help you get well sooner. Tamiflu and Relenza will be covered (subject to the terms and conditions of your policy) if you or a member of your household are at high risk for flu complications and you have:
- Tested positive for swine flu
- Been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for swine flu
Individuals at high risk for flu complications include:
- Children under 5, Adults 65 or older
- Pregnant women
- Health care workers
- Anyone with a chronic medical condition that places you at higher risk (like asthma or diabetes)
